Avery just blinked, obviously caring less about whether Travis was going to wake up any particular time soon. Perhaps that was selfish, but he'd never even been that special to her, she didn't have to go caring now, especially that Tanner had the boy clobbered and basically looking dead on the ground. Her eyes lingered on the boy's crippled, balled up figure on the dirt for a moment, just a small hint of sympathy flashing in her eyes before they darted to Tanner with the same pleading stare she'd given him earlier. It was almost better when Travis was trying to interrupt things - however pathetic he was at it - because it kept him around. Now that he was no challenge at all to him, Tanner would probably go to leave again and everything would go to shits.
"Please, baby..Ave.." Travis mumbled, his head rocking back onto the dirt as he desperately tried to pick it up. He was too weak for that. It might've been better to try to help the kid, but Avery was too worried about someone else right now, and she wasn't going to move unless someone drug her by the hair. Her knee would protest at the slightest movement, so she was just staring, her lips moving but no sound coming out. What a pitiful scene this was.

Tanner smirked at the boy on the ground as he pleaded for Avery's help. Arnt'cha gonna help himm? Tanner inquired sarcastically. He looked at Avery, his expression softening as he watched her beautiful face. Tanner looked down at her knee, wondering what the hell Avery had done now. He opened up the door of his mustang and gently lead Avery to sit sidways in the seat so she could take the pressure off of her knee. Out of pure habit, Tanner leaned down and pressed his mouth her her's, kissing her passionately. He'd been wanting to do that for days but he wasn't sure what he reaction would be. He pulled away and stood in front of her, leaning on the hood of the car, not saying a word.

She was in serious shock. Avery didn't move for a good two minutes after he'd kissed her, staring at Travis on the ground before she glanced at Tanner's figure on the hood of the car. Eyes shifting down at her knee, she mumbled a faint "shit," standing up the best she could and rubbing at a bit of blood she'd gotten on the car seat. Once it only smeared it more - she was not making the situation any better - she gave up, burying her face in her hands. "I'm so sorry, Tanner," she mumbled, gesturing to the blood with a wave of her pallid hand before she let herself fall on the ground, sitting with her legs outstretched. Travis was knocked out again, which was a good thing, so she kept her eyes focused on Tanner, smiling slightly as she watched him. How could she be so lucky to have his absolute perfection back again, even if it was only temporary?
"Why did you come here, Tanner?" she asked, her vocals soft. It was clear that she wasn't mad he had, just curious. Avery couldn't have dreamt of a better way to come together again - if you could call this that. Maybe it was more like 'forgiving and forgetting she ever exists' and he'd be gone in a day. At least the drama of the situation had kept them from being able to get too sappy, or too violent - not that that would've happened. He probably just would've dropped her stuff off and left. Travis had actually helped to keep him around longer, and if he didn't absolutely hate her guts after this, she'd help him learn to by thanking him for keeping Tanner around.

He wasn't ever sure why he kissed her. He stared at her for a moment before glancing over his shoulder at the knocked out Travis sprawled out on the ground. Tanner looked back at her, tilting his head and listening to her question. I brought some of your stuff by that you'd left at my dorm. He told her quietly, his expression kind of blank. A sigh was relieved from his lungs as he watched her, glancing down at her knee every now and then. Tanner was confused about what he was going to do next. He didn't know where he was going or how his life was going to be in the next year or so. Are you planning to keep it? He asked quietly, his voice a little hoarse for some reason.

This was so strange to her. Usually, they were side by side, kissing, laughing, doing something. Now they were apart, both seeming as though they barely even wanted to speak to eachother. Ok, so he had kissed her, but Avery wasn't letting herself think that'd meant anything. His question was a bit confusing to her, so she looked at him for a moment, trying to figure out what he'd meant. "I'm not going to give you more shit to deal with," she mumbled, a round-a-bout yes that eventually boiled down to him still leaving. She grimaced at that, shaking her head. Her head snapped back in his direction, a dull sense of bravery in her eyes that was barely recognizable, overshadowed by pain and uncertainty.
"Did that kiss mean I'm forgiven just a bit, or was it a goodbye?" she barked, her lyrics surprisingly loud and dominant. Avery wanted an answer badly, and wouldn't really rest until she got one from him. She needed to know that - even if he did leave her - he didn't absolutely hate her. That'd make it a bit better, though not much.

Suddenly, Tanner's anger boiled back up. Her answer to his question made it seem like he was being selfish. Maybe he was...Was he? His eyebrows furrowed but the rest of his expression was blank. He didn't say anything, he just continued to look at her. I don't know, Avery. He said, answering her last question. Even Tanner didn't know why he kissed her. Talking to her made him much less destined to leave. Something clicked in his mind about how pathetic and stubborn he was being. It wasn't Avery's fault that she was pregnant or got mad at him because of it.
He slowly pulled her out of the car and sat down in her place, setting her back down in his lap. He wrapped his arms around her waist, and held her close. He put his hand on her stomache and shifted their positions to where her could see her face. Avery...we can do this together. He whispered, giving her a sweet look.

Aw, shit. He was going to do this to her? And what, decide to leave her again in a second? A frown came onto her face, but then she saw those eyes - those gorgeous, pleading blue eyes. It was hard to resist, and with a gulp, her own optics darted to anything that she could find to distract herself. Gee, that's a big tree, she thought to herself, her eyes settling on an oak in the distance. Of course, she felt him there, she could see him there, it wasn't going to work. For a moment, she fiddled with her fingers, tearing her gaze away from his face to watch her hands as they rolled over eachother. That got boring fast with him sitting right there, too, and she finally decided to give in. It couldn't hurt. Much. "That's what I was thinking," she smiled, but it was faint, obviously still worried about how this was going to work out.
Placing a kiss on his cheek, she laughed, her chuckle like bells with how delighted she was. She must've run out of bad karma - as if that was possible - to be lucky enough for this. Avery rested her head on the side of his, her face half buried in his hair as she sighed. "If you think we can, then we will," she spoke softly, not bothering to pull back to catch his reaction. She'd hear what he thought well enough. Something about this was still odd though; perhaps her paranoia was catching up with her. Her heart didn't feel full as it usually did when she was with Tanner. Sure, her pulse was quicker, she was happier, but something in her mind was still not seeing this as real. She clamped her teeth together, angered by the way her mind was working right now.

Tanner watched her. She seemed scared and worried about this whole situation. He knew that she was and he knew that he was. This was going to be a difficult thing for them. He took a deep breath and looked up at her on his lap. Even though all your friends are going to hate me...and your brother...I think it'll be ok. He said softly, putting the hand he had on her stomache on her thigh. Tanner felt halfway satisfied too. He wasn't sure he could make it through this. But for Avery's sake, he damn well would. Suddenly, his mind darted back to Travis. Ok, now you gotta get rid of fuckface before I kill him. Tanner said, raising a brow. He was still incredibly pissed about that whole situation.

So that was it. It wasn't the same, was it, really? Was he just doing this to try to help her because he thought she needed assistance, and it wasn't even mildly due to the fact that he loved her? That'd make sense. She wouldn't blame him, but she wouldn't like it either. Avery smiled at his worries, shaking her head. "I don't care what they think, and if Aiden doesn't like you, I'll take pleasure in killing him myself," she sighed, shifting to where she was leaning against him, wincing at her knee. Listening to his request to get rid of Travis, she couldn't help but laugh, shaking her head. "And how exactly do you want me to get rid of him when he's unconscious?" she spoke, still smirking to herself.
Maybe she just needed to calm down. She couldn't expect him all at once. What was she wanting, them to completely make up and forget what they'd said to eachother and move on? Actually, yes, she was wanting that to happen, but it was too unrealistic. Avery needed to calm down and take things in stride. It was obvious though that she didn't want to, refusing to move from his lap until Travis finally woke up - unless Tanner wanted her to drag him into a ditch or something, then she'd take care of it.
