H I S T O R Y
Rissa grew up as a trouble child. She never was fully understood by her rich hay farmer parents. She wanted to live the life. But every step, every decision, drew her away. Her peace at home in Kansas was the farm horses. She loved caring for them, but she could never ride them. She never understood why her parents wouldn't buy her a horse until she found out about Anna. Anna had been her older sister and she had ridden. But Anna had had a terrible accident, on horseback, and died while trying to break in a young 3 year old.
They were plow horses, drafts, anyways and weren't trained to be ridden. Her parents didn't like her to be around the huge animals, but she sneaked out anyways.
"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." Her grandmother always told her. Rissa, at age 18 and out of her parents' grasp, gripped the saying and took it to heart. She finally pursued her life with horses.
Horses gave Rissa an outbox to all her energy. When she dove into something, she really dove into it, never leaving loose ends anywhere. When on her way to the airport, she simply pointed at one of the flights and bought a ticket. She had pointed to Lexington, Kentucky. When she found out about Glen Oak, she knew it would be a perfect fit for her. Finally a community and friends that understand her passion.
Rissa doesn't have a job here as of yet, but she really hopes to focus on her horses and meeting everyone. But right now, she's going from rags to riches.

Rissa strolled into her barn, happy to see her horses. All of them were amazing and she loved each one. Going to Duke, she pet him, whispering in his ear before putting on his halter and clipping him into the crossties. Grooming him and checking him over, she cleaned his stall and measured out his forage and concentrates. She did the same with each stallion before leaving for the day.
