The flowers were in bloom, with sweet scents filling the air and making Ashlyn inhale audibly. A light wind blew through the courtyard making her hair whip and she smiled happily. Wind and sun made her smile, just like a little girl. Students hurried all around her and shaking her head sadly, she wondered why they were hurrying. They had a whole hour for themselves in a free period. A low wall covered with Ivy, beckoned toward her with a cool embrace of cold stones and shade. The sun still warmed her face. Soaking up the light and warm Vitamen D, Ashlyn tilted her head back let the rays spread all over her face. It warmed like bread in a baking oven. A million thoughts raced through her head. Dismissing all of them, she sighed. Justin had been gone recently and he was her main ray of sunshine. So, even with the sun out, it didn't seem fully sunny. When the shade started to soak through her skinny black jeans she stood up and saw Tanner. Beckoning, she waved him over. Walking halfway.

Tanner was sitting against the wall, reading a book by Stephen King when he saw an unfamiliar face ahead, beckoning to him. He raised a brow and stood, tossing the book onto his friend, Taylor's lap. The raw eyes of his glare stung Tanner's back when he stood to meet this new person. Then it shook him. Ashlyn...Avery's friend. Uhh. Hi. He said with a small smile on his face. He tossed his multicolored locks from his handsome blue eyes, looking at her for a moment.

Looking down at the ground she shook her head trying to get over the akward feeling. They had never actually hung out, just with Avery. She felt almost like a slut for talking to him. "Er, Hello." looking down at her velvet ballet flats; she rolled eyes her eyes. Nothing she could say would make sense. "So, um, er, how's life?" she squeaked out hoping she didn't seem like to much of a dork compared to Avery. The breeze blew again and cooled off the anxiety and nervousness of talking to Avery's boyfriend. Glancing at the friend Tanner had been sitting with she timidly smiled and looked around the courtyard for something else to talk about. A light pink flower blew across the tiles scattering a few leaves and stems. Trust Ashlyn to notice random things like that. Returning her lighter blue eyes to his face; she realized how tall he must be. She only reached a bit taller than Avery if not the same size. "Sheeshh.." she muttered under her breath. Her size had always been a touchy matter to her. Although she liked it, being small wasn't the best sometimes. Sometimes.

Tanner raised his brows again, not sure what the occasion was. Arn't you Avery's friend? He oblivously ignored her small talk question. Tanner stared at the ground before looking back up at her again. Avery...Hmm..where could that girl be today? No tellin'. He slid his hands into his pockets and waited for a reply. He'd only seen Ashlyn a few times but never actually met her. Tanner really hadn't gotten a chance to meet anyone that Avery knew except for her brother, Aiden. This was a good time to finally become social and at least known for being someone other than the Glen Oak new guy. I think I've seen you a few times. Tanner said. Tanner hated awkward moments and tried to make the most out of a situation like now. At first impression, Tanner really seemed like the talkative type.

Smilimg ever so slightly, she shifted from one foot to the other. "Uh-huh." looking back at him she suddenly felt a little better although, this was weird. Ashlyn normaly wasn't this shy. "So, you're probably wondering why I'm talking to you?" the words came out in a tizzying rush and grinned dorkily and muttered "Sorry." the air blew again and she felt a hint of warmth that spread through her skin and made it tingle. It seemed like the weather really had changed here at Glen Oak. All the leaves, flowers and Ivy rustled promisingly like the pages of a new book. The students chatter died down to a low mumur and whiper here and there as they walked through the now almost empty courtyard. Her brain woke up and she realized he had spoken again. "Yes, I tink Avery introduced us once or twice." she smiled tenatively and quickly pulled out her cell phone. It may have seemed rude but she needed to talk to Avery. Quickly texting her she asked Guess WHAT? and press send. When it came to Avery, suspension was always the best. The birdsong had risen up now and she was suprised to find herself enjoying this akward conversation with Tanner and the sun and breeze. It gave her a sense of peace and rightness.
