Meaningless. Absolutely, utterly meaningless. She was laying on her bed, eyes dull and void of any sign of life or emotion. They had lost their usual sparkle, an unappealing grey. After all, she had nothing to be excited about, to look forward to, considering she'd just been told to leave by the one single person she'd decided to dedicate herself to. Sure, he hadn't exactly been in the right state of mind - he was drugged, but it was hard for her to believe he'd tell her to get lost if he didn't mean it. Therefore, her entire world had crashed down on her, smothering her under it's reality. The horrid fact that she was not good enough for him and never would be, as he'd told her, just in a few different words. She rolled onto her side, staring at the walls before she felt the tears brimming upon her eyes again. She couldn't hold them back, and she jabbed a fist angrily into the bed, hands knotting in her hair on either side of her strained face as she tugged upon it. It was going to kill her soon if she didn't get some sort of release from this.

Ok..NO!! OUCH! A voice came from the open window down to the ground. A large dog snarled and snapped at Tanner as he vigourously tried to excape. Ok, look, I'm here for personal reasons. If you are her dog, I understand, but if not, please just skitter on away. I'll think of you when I'm on my deathbed. There he goes again, talking to animals as if they were human. Tanner gave a nervous smile. Obviously, his 'deal' didn't make ends meet with the angry Great Dane. The dog lunged forward, resulting in Tanner flitting half way up a tree. Fuck! He said as he clenched the thick branches of the oak, pulling himself as high as he could get. At that, he noticed he was right by an open window. Avery's window. Yeah, pretty coincidental. You better make this work, asshole. He thought to himself. Tanner leaned forward, trying to reach the sill of the window, just as the branch holding his weight, cracked, leaving him hanging from another branch a bit higher. He let out a childish yelp and feared for near death.

Either she was imagining things, or that complete, total idiot was trying to break into her room. She went with her first thought, though it was downplayed by the yelp she heard outside that sent her practically fifty feet to the side in a surprised jump. She was at her window in a flash, slamming her hands down on the window sill. "TANNER, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" she yelled, a look of total horror on her face. "YOU'RE GOING TO KILL YOURSELF," she screamed, snickering as she watched him dangling there. It was just too funny, and she couldn't keep herself from laughing, despite the serious situation and the lecture she already had planned for him when he managed to get his ass in here.
There was a front door, you know, but he clearly hadn't taken that into consideration. Apparently, he liked the sort of dramatic enrance, and in a way, she did too. It was lightening up the mixture of emotions that seeing him brought to her, from despair to joy.

The large Great Dane jumped in the air, snapping at Tanner's legs. Aah!! He yelped before letting go of the branch and grasping the window sill, pulling himself into her room without a severed leg. He was breathing hard as he layed on her bedroom floor like a total fool. I would've used your front door, but that dog chased me up a tree. He said breathlessly. Being only a day later, [though it seemed like years] Tanner looked more horrid than he did before. His stitched face was un taken care of so the wounds were a dark red and just plain gross looking. He had horrible bags under his eyes from lack of sleep and to top it off, tears flooded his eyes just at the sight of her. You're so beautiful.. Was all he could utter at the moment. He'd get the 'i'm sorry's later. Tanner had to grasp the moment and just look at her for as long as she would allow.

Well, OK, maybe she wouldn't lecture him. She couldn't, she'd have to be heartless to after that. "You are..a total mess," she was shaking her head in disbelief at him, falling to her knees next to him and scooping him up in her arms, like he was some sort of baby. He wasn't entirely in her grasp, however, considering he was just a bit bigger than that. "But you're my mess," she whispered, placing a tiny kiss on his ear, which was easily in her reach as she sat there, cradling his upper body. "Come on, get up off the cold floor," she sighed, stumbling to her feet and tripping as she did so, since she was trying to help him up at the same time. Minus the wounds that spotted his face, you could've said she looked just as beaten up. She hadn't exactly taken care of herself in this past day, more like neglected every single thing she required to survive. The biggest neglect there had been the fact she didn't have him there, and now that she did, she wasn't going to mess it up again, not even come close. She was bringing him up to her bed, with quite a struggle, but she had him on the edge of it at least. She was beside him with a huge gasp of air, since that'd strained her. This whole thing was hard for her.
She paused, raising a finger. "One second," she said, trotting over to the window and staring down at the brindle dog sitting there, tail wagging like a doofus. "Good boy Sunka. You almost ate him completely," she nodded, laughing as the dog stared up at her with a dumb bark thrown in. She was beside him again in a second, skipping the let's-hold-hands part and diving straight into the hug. She was just sitting there hugging him, mumbling a few things to herself, knowing he wouldn't hear her exact words.

To his amuse, he did little to help her help him. He grinned at her as she hugged him. Tanner wrapped his thin arms around her body, pulling her close to his chest. I'm sorry. I was just on heavy drugs. He whispered quietly. He truely WAS sorry for her leaving was the last thing he wanted. After almost getting his feet torn off by a dog, she had to know he was actually sorry. Tanner pulled back out of the hug to get a good look at her. He leaned forward and pressed his lips to her's, smiling against her mouth.

Surprisingly, she returned the kiss quite vigorously, placing a few more quick kisses along his jaw before she rested her forehead against his lightly. Her eyes were digging into his with absolutely no fear, her smile disclosing such admiration for him, it could break your heart. "I am so sorry, I will never, ever leave you again. Ever," it was almost as if she hadn't heard his apology originally, her vocals rushed and flooding out of her without even understanding what she was saying. The words just came and bubbled out of her like she was crazy. "I love you, I love you so much," she gasped, attacking him in another hug. Poor girl, it was obvious how hard this'd been on her. You could probably say poor guy too, since she was choking him right now with her crushing embrace.

He didn't care, this is what he was going to live for as long as she let him. Her crushing hugs were everything he wanted. I love you too. He choked, enjoying every moment of it. Of course, every minute he'd spent thinking about her and how much he hurt her, dicinigrated due to the fact that he never wanted to leave her sight again. But, he'd probably have to. Unfortunately. Tanner held her close, just as she was holding him. This was absolutely the most perfect moment he could've ever imagined. She was the new era of his life. The person he would dedicate himself to.

Her eyes widened a bit at the strangled tone to his voice, releasing her grip automatically as she pulled back. "Right, sorry..." she sighed, biting her nail for a moment, eyes glued entirely to his face. She was in a little fantasy world right now, which he easily lulled her into. It wasn't hard - she was willing to jump off a bridge for him, if she'd had to. "I am..so glad you're back," her voice was breaking. Crap, she was going to cry again, but for once, they were tears of absolute joy. "I'm chaining myself to you," a nod followed her decision, like it was totally logical. Her voice was wavering, looking at her hands as she felt her eyes watering up. She'd do anything she needed to. Just as long as she was his, and they were together, her life would be complete. She could die tomorrow and be happy.

Tanner listened to her speak, never taking his eyes off her. Me too. He said simply, with a wide smile. He stood and took her hands, making her stand up as well. He pulled her to his chest and wrapped his long arms around her small frame, embracing her for another time. As he pulled back he spoke. Avery, I know I've only known you for a short time, but you've made everything worth living for. He said with a smile. He didn't even realize how hideous he looked at the moment. He couldn't realize anything at the moment except for the fact that he'd gotten the girl of his dreams back. Tanner ran his fingers down her cheekbone, across her smooth skin. You are truely the prettiest girl I've EVER seen. He said quietly. He wondered what would take place next...

Yeah, what would take place next? She was in the process of backing him up against a wall when Cecilia had wandered into the room, one of the housecleaners that Avery occasionally hired, considering she was too lazy to get off her ass and clean herself. "Oh. Uhm," the girl stammered, Avery's eyes growing slightly wide as she backed off of Tanner, staring at her feet. "Sorry, Ms. Johns," she smirked, bustling off to spread the word that Avery had a boy in her bedroom.
Meanwhile, Avery was laughing, though it had a nervous edge to it. "Well, that's going to get around. Let's get out of here before she takes pictures," she smiled, grabbing his hand as she tugged him towards her side. Arms slipping around his stomach, she headed towards the steps, so they could avoid the demon dog that just happened to have a grudge against Tanner.

Tanner felt a little uncomfortable as the cleaning lady waltz in. Ok...awkward. He looked at Avery. Uhm. Ok... He said quietly. Do you live with your parents? He asked slightly nervous. Parents always had sore feelings towards Tanner due to his looks. The piercings, the hair, the tight jeans and shirts...They all thought 'it was a strange way for a boy to dress'. Psht, yeah right. Once the parents got their attitudes known towards him, he also let himself be heard. He smarted off and often glared in their direction. Tanner had a hard time with people judging him. Every other KID liked him. Tanner was the sweetest guy with a humerous personality. Tanner rolled his eyes at himself and forgot what he was thinking about. Tanner followed Avery towards the staircase, never seizing to touch her in some way.

She gave a vigorous shake of her head. She had a good idea of why he might be asking that, knowing the instant assumptions that people probably made about him. Truth was, she couldn't give a damn. He was perfect in her eyes, on the inside and outside, and if they didn't like that, they could...ah, yeah, better stop there for the karma. Her smile was broad as she tightened her grip on him, squishing herself against his side. "Nope. They're states away. Dad's too busy with business, mom's too busy trying to get him to stop gambling the money away," she explained, talking about them as if she couldn't care less, though just picturing them was hard for her. Their relationship had been fairly close - once, before things took a turn for the worse and the entire family fell apart. They were in the driveway by now, her old Chevy truck parked next to her '01 VW Beetle. She was, apparently, deciding upon the truck this time, opening the door for him. "Amazing, best people ever inside first," she nodded. Truthfully, she just didn't want to let go of him until she absolutely had to.

He sighed quietly in relief, feeling much better about the situation. Once they were outside and she opened the door for him, he didn't bother to argue with her. Tanner stepped into the truck with ease, smiling at her. He sat against the old seats, beginning to think positive things once again. He watched her...his eyes following her every move. He felt as if a large weight had been lifted from his shoulders and he could finally breathe and relax. He wanted her to hurry and get into the car. He had a lot of things he wanted to tell her, but he wasn't sure what he wanted to tell her.

She was inside not too long after he was, sprinting around the truck with deer-like bounds. As she slipped inside, she smiled at him, giving a small "prepare yourself." The truck then roared to life, which was apparently what she'd been referring to, as the whole vehicle rocked forward, shaking under them with a vicious growling. "It's a monster, but a beauty," she sighed, patting the truck's dashboard affectionately as she backed out the driveway, rolling her eyes at the dog barking at them as they did so. If he didn't press her, she was planning on keeping their destination a secret. It might not turn out to be the special sort of moment she was hoping for, but it would still be pleasant, no matter what happened there. After all, with him there, it'd be impossible for her not to have a good time. She let a hand go off of the steering wheel, instead slipping over to grab his own.

Tanner jumped as the truck growled at them. Uhh, yeah. He said, chuckling a bit. It really didn't matter to him where they were going, he just wanted to go somewhere with her. Anywhere. Other than his brother's apartment. When she grabbed his hand, his heart began to beat faster. He looked over at her, staring at her for a few long moments. She was beautiful and he couldn't belive a girl like her actually liked him. He'd never really had good luck with love. Never. Tanner then looked out of the front window, watching as the dreary, naked trees flashed by them.

The drive was silent, which truthfully, she didn't mind. That is, it was, until they came upon a squirrel in the road that refused to move even one inch, headlights beaming down on it as it debated on which way to scamper off to. Eventually, Avery lost her patience (which had taken, gee whiz, about two seconds) and was hanging half out the window, yelling at the little animal like it understood her. "YOU STUPID SQUIRREL, GET YOUR NUTS OUT OF THE ROAD," she yelled, huffing, fingers tapping against the steering wheel as it stared blissfully into the distance. "I think this squirrel has less brain cells then even you do, Tanner," she teased, flicking him on the nose gently as she stared out the window, grumbling to herself. The road was too narrow to dodge around the animal, and she wasn't going to squash the poor thing. Finally, the squirrel left, causing the car to idle for quite a while before he'd decided to let them go. "Stupid nut," she muttered, a smug smile on her face as she took a sharp turn off the road, the lane basically overgrown and barely visible. The truck fishtailed frantically for a while, but she handled it, though both of her hands were on the steering wheel, one no longer settled within his. Her face was white as it evened out, just the occasional washboard causing the truck to bump around. Considering two inviting ravines were on either side of the road, that was just fine with her. The road may be tough, but it was worth it. There was no hint of sunlight where they were driving, just the constant shadow of trees passing overhead.

Tanner laughed as she insulted the brainless squirrel, asking to get run over. As she made the comment about him having less brains than a squirrel, he rolled his eyes, even though it might be true. It disappointed him to have her hand leave his, but maybe it was for the better, seeing as though they began traveling on a rougher road than before. As the light dimmed, he breathed deeply, relaxing. Everything was right. Everything felt right. Tanner was almost speechless. It was strange, because most of the time, he always had something to say. He didn't know what was wrong with him...he just wanted to sit and listen to Avery...watch Avery. His words could be so interupting at times.

"Kidding. On the squirrel comment," she added quickly, the roll of his eyes worrying her slightly. She was taking such care not to ruin this moment, which was so far absolutely perfect. Once she'd determined they weren't going to fling themselves off into a ditch, she grabbed his hand again, smiling over at him. "You're quiet," hah, he had to know that she tended to state the obvious by now, for lack of anything better to say. Questions were tumbling through her thoughts, the one at the forefront saying is that a good thing?, the anxiety returning to her face, her smile fading slightly. Without her knowing, she was squeezing his hand in a death grip, as if he was her lifeline. Technically, he was, but this time around, it was just apprehension that she was doing something wrong. She didn't even noticed as they approached the clearing in the forest, until a violent jolt shook the truck, the road ending completely. They'd arrived. What lay before them was jawdropping, ancient Weeping Willows surrounding the open circle of grass like it was some ancient meeting place. It was intruiging, absolutely silent, the grass bowing under the pressure of the breeze. Her own breath was taken away by it, and she didn't know if he'd found this spot or not yet. Which was why she'd brought him here.
[so, forget posting in the meadow thing. we'll just keep posting here. if you want. :] ]
